Hindu-Muslim relationships are considered taboo in South Asia, especially with rising tensions between the two religious groups.

However, Junaid Shaikh and Garima Joshi have proven love conquers hate with their beautiful wedding in Dubai.

Both of them attended the same university in Pune where Shaikh was Joshi's senior. However, years later when they came across each other in Dubai while pursuing their masters, they fell in love.

Their religious differences saw them facing trouble from their families when it came to accepting their relationship. But it was their love for each other that saw them continue to fight.

"We never thought our relationship could work out. We knew the day we started dating that our relationship came with a fullstop" says Shaikh, in their wedding video.

Once both their families approved, the couple planned their dream wedding. Their wedding saw them do away with the traditional ceremonies of nikkah and pheras, and instead they celebrated their love, cultures and union.

"The politics of India has managed to convince everyone that Hindus and Muslims are so different that they would never get along, let alone be married to each other. Hence we decided to avoid any conflicts and just celebrate our togetherness to see this day through," Joshi told BuzzFeed.

"This is the best day of my life," says a visibly teary-eyed Shaikh.

Lets have to courage to use our intelligence, compassion and tolerance despite the blinders of religion. Just some inner courage!
