MUZAFFARABAD: Leader of the Opposition in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen challenged AJK Prime Minister Farooq Haider to declare his assets and source of income on Monday.

The PPP leader, while addressing the oath taking ceremony of AJK’s Central Bar Association, said, “My assets are open but will Prime Minister Haider show his source of income?”

Yaseen also accused Prime Minister Haider of maintaining double standards. He said when the PML-N celebrated its Panamagate victory in Burhan Wani chowk they were allowed to take out a rally, but when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a sit-in at the same spot they were baton charged.

The PPP leader recalled that the AJK interim act of 1974 was the blessing of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto through which the valley got a separate assembly and courts. The act has been widely criticised by the ruling party in AJK and the opposition leader asked the PML-N why they were not changing the act when they are in control of the federal and AJK governments.

The opposition leader also hit out at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying, “Last week the prime minister visited the tunnels of Neelum-Jehlum Hydroelectric Project (NJHEP) and did not utter a single word for the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).”

He lamented that the prime minister is meeting Indian billionaire Sajjan Jindal when Kashmiris are being slaughtered by the Indian forces.

The opposition leader also regretted, “After nine months Prime Minister Haider has still not signed the NJHEP agreement with the federal government.”

He also claimed that Prime Minister Haider had summoned a session of the AJKLA on Kashmir but instead he chose the forum to praise Prime Minister Nawaz.

Yaseen also urged that everyone should focus on liberating IoK whether they are in the opposition or the government.
