A third device was exploded by terrorists targeting a CTD vehicle in Khattako Pul area. Two policemen were slightly injured and were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital.

“Everything was pre-planned and the main target was police. The first device went off to force police to come to the area and when they reached the area, their vehicle was targeted on its way back by terrorists,” a police official said while talking to The Express Tribune.

All the four men were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where their condition was stated to be stable. The injured were identified as Akbar Ali, Israr, Nizar Ali and a civilian Wali Rehman.

According to an official of bomb disposal unit (BDU), "Afghan Taliban and Islamic State have been on a warpath in the area, evident from the recent target killings including the high profile murder of a Afghan cleric.”

The police was informed of the incident and reached the location after an hour. They inspected the damaged gate and school building and searched the building. During the search, another device was found planted inside. BDU was called and the device was successfully defused. Police claimed that both the devices were of 2.5 kilogramme intensity each.

Local residents, however, denied any such claim on the part of the police and insisted that the explosive device indeed exploded and damaged the main gate of the education institute.
