ISLAMABAD: Iran Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif is due to arrive in Islamabad today (Wednesday) to hold talks with Pakistani authorities over the recent border attack that killed nine Iranian border guards.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that Zarif would discuss the situation arising out of the border attack with Pakistani officials.

The Iranian government is despatching its top diplomat seeking action against the mastermind of the attack near the Iranian town of Mirjaveh in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Pakistani ambassador to Iran summoned over attack on border guards

Iran-based Jaish al-Adl terror group had claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.

Pakistan condemned the attack and made it clear that the incident happened on the other side of the border.

Iran, however, is far from convinced as it not only summoned Pakistan’s ambassador but also insisted that Islamabad must take action against people responsible for the attack.

“The Pakistan government should be held accountable for the presence and operation of these vicious groups on its soil,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said last Thursday in a statement.

abreez | 7 years ago | Reply Pakistan’s decision to rent out Ex-Crown Prince to Saudi Arab was a wrong decision, now Iran will do everything it can for ‘limited’ Pakistani role in Arab-Iran tussle. I wonder why Pakistani Royalty wants to play another chess game with Iran while it’s already playing chess games with India and Afghanistan.
