BALAKOT: Kaghan police on Sunday arrested five people who are suspected to have killed two brothers in an apparent case of ‘honour killing’.

According to reports, the two brothers had been gunned down in Mahandri Manoor area of Kaghan valley on Saturday.

Locals had told police that Abdur Rehman and his brother Mohammad Asif were returning home after visiting a nearby village when a group of five men intercepted them and sprayed them with bullets. The assailants fled after shooting the two brothers.

They said that Mohammad Riasat, a younger brother of the two brothers, had married a local girl two months ago without the consent of her parents.

The girl’s family had been incensed over the matter.

As a result, some members of the girl’s family allegedly attacked Riasat’s brother to exact ‘revenge’.
