Workplace hazards: Health and safety day observed

The World Day for Health and Safety at Work was observed across the province by Punjab Emergency Service on Friday. The purpose of celebrating the day was to highlight the critical need for Pakistan to improve capacity to collect and utilise reliable occupational safety and health data for establishment of safer communities. Seminars, walks and rallies were staged in different cities to create awareness about importance of health and safety at work. While addressing a seminar in Lahore, Rescue 1122 Director-General Dr Rizwan Naseer said the annual day promoted the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally.
