Government committed to electoral reforms: Ishaq Dar

Dar said government will consider all inputs and proposals recommended by stakeholders

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said, on Friday, the government is committed to electoral reforms, Radio Pakistan reported.

Chairing a meeting with the Laws Review Committee in Islamabad, Dar said the government will consider all inputs and proposals recommended by the stakeholders.

Reviewing the progress on the electoral reforms bill, he directed the committee to expedite the process so the bill could be presented in parliament. The committee also discussed legislation on the Companies Law.

Last month, Election Commission officials walked out of a crucial parliamentary committee meeting instead of answering questions regarding the current policy of ad-hocism in the electoral body and appointment of junior officers as provincial election commissioners in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
