Let’s celebrate Younis Khan

Letter April 26, 2017
Our nation cannot be more proud of Younis’s hard work and untiring efforts

LAHORE: Younis Khan became the 13th batsman in the world to have made 10,000 Test runs. This is a commendable achievement by our cricket star and everyone in the country is cheering for him. It took 25 years for a Pakistani batsman to become one of the highest Test runs achiever to enter their name in the 10k club, which already hosts names of cricket legends like India’s Sachin Tendulkar, Australia’s Ricky Ponting and West Indies’ Brian Lara.

Our nation cannot be more proud of Younis’s hard work and untiring efforts to carve Pakistan’s name in the 10k club of Test runs. He has also scored centuries in 11 countries, making him the only batsman to have done so. In fact, he also has a world record five centuries in the fourth innings. Now that he is retiring, our authorities along with the Pakistan Cricket Board should honour Younis. Their support will inspire other players to get off their comfort zones and break records.
