LAHORE: A focus was laid on user experience (UX) at a conference held by the Design Society of the Lahore University of Management Sciences. The event was dubbed as the inaugural UX Pakistan Conference.

It was organised in collaboration with the LUMS Computer Science department and its Human Computer Interaction lab (CHISEL) and directed by Dr Suleman Shahid. The conference, with the theme of “good design matters”, was held from April 22 to 23, said a statement on Monday.

It was aimed at creating a platform on which startups and UX designers can share and promote knowledge, whilst also getting ideas evaluated by professionals in the field. The first-of-its-kind conference sought to inspire UX designers to create holistic, seamless user experiences and to bridge the gap between the industry and academic researchers.

The conference comprised various speaker sessions and professionals discussed the latest UX trends and technologies. Workshops were also arranged to highlight the principles of user experience design for websites, AR/VR and unity etc.

In addition, a Design Hackathon was set up and involved a team which was working on social issues. The challenge was to apply UX principles to solve certain issues and prizes were presented to the winning solutions.

Startups were also given the unique opportunity to have their ideas evaluated by professionals. The conference was attended by industry leaders and design professionals from national franchises, who shared their thoughts on the latest UX trends and technologies. Also present were students, professionals, designers, scientists, economists and artists.
