Says CPEC has ushered in a new era for both countries

LAHORE: China has become a catalyst for Pakistan’s development by investing in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday

He was talking to Lu Xinshe, a member of the Chinese Communist Party’s central committee and its secretary of the Jiangxi province. At a meeting in Lahore, Sharif and Xinshe discussed the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between Punjab and Jiangxi.

The Punjab chief minister said the economic corridor had ushered the two countries into a new era of economic relations. Xinshe said many milestones had been achieved in Punjab under the chief minister’s leadership.

CPEC will ‘pave way for development’  

Later in the day, the Punjab chief minister while addressing members of the Punjab-Jiangxi Business Forum said the Chinese leadership had assured the prime minister of its maximum support for the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

He said China was making a historic investment of $60 billion in Pakistan through the CPEC project.

The chief minister said Punjab and Chinese province of Jiangxi would be great partners in journey of development and prosperity. Mutual cooperation between the two provinces would be extended in different fields including education, industry, energy, livestock, agriculture and pharmaceutical.
