Punjab CM discusses economic and trade cooperation with Lu Xinshe of China's Jiangxi province

China has become a catalyst for Pakistan's development by investing in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday

He was talking to Lu Xinshe, a member of the Communist Party of China's central committee and its secretary in the China's Jiangxi province, according to Radio Pakistan.

At a meeting in Lahore, Sharif and Xinshe discussed the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between Punjab and Jiangxi.

The Punjab chief minister said the economic corridor had ushered the two countries into a new era of economic relations.

He praised the the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for making this possible.

Xinshe said many milestones had been achieved in Punjab under the chief minister's leadership.

Later in the day, the Punjab chief minister while addressing members of the Punjab-Jiangxi Business Forum said the Chinese leadership had assured the prime minister of its maximum support for the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

He said China was making a historic investment of $60 billion in Pakistan through the CPEC project.
