AIOU marks Iqbal’s 79th anniversary

Named after the Poet of the East, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) observed the 79th death anniversary of the great philosopher and poet on Friday.

“AIOU will fulfil its responsibility to promote the intellectual thoughts and visionary message of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal through academic pursuits and literary and social activities,” said VC Dr Shahid Siddiqui re-pledged that

On the occasion, Dr Siddiqui said that the varsity was determined to disseminate Iqbal’s thought-provoking message among the students for their character-building and putting them on the track of nation-building. He said Iqbal’s message of revolution and renaissance of the Muslim thought was relevant even today.

Special programmes to educate the youth about Iqbal’s philosophy and thought were presented throughout the day. All these sessions were aired live on the university’s web TV and FM radio network. Siddiqui also said that AIOU was engaged in extensive research work on Iqbal’s thoughts, laying special focus on research and in-depth study regarding the various aspects of his message for the young generation.
