KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation [KMC] kicked off its fumigation campaign on Thursday.

According to a press statement issued by the KMC, the fumigation activity will be carried out until May 4 on the directives of Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar. During the campaign for those areas where it is not possible for the fumigation vehicles to reach, handheld fumigation equipment will be used.

"In all the six districts of the city, around 50 vehicles will be used for fumigation," said Akhtar, adding that the fumigation would be carried out after 5pm. The fumigation is being carried out with the help of the district municipal corporations to tackle dengue and chikungunya.

Spreading awareness: ‘Prevention is the best defence’

According to the schedule, the fumigation will be held on April 20 in District Central, April 21 in District West, April 22 in District South and April 23 in District Malir.

The fumigation will be carried out on April 24 in District East, on April 25 in District Korangi and on April 26 in the district councils.
