KARACHI: A court in Thatta issued a non-bailable warrant for arrest of Pakistan Peoples Party's MNA, Malik Asad Sikandar, for kidnapping and illegal confining a Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader.

The court served a consecutive notice on Saturday after Sikandar, who was elected from Jamshoro district, failed to appear before the court in successive hearings.

He is accused in the case along with SSP Pir Farid Jan Sarhandi and SSP Farrukh Bashir for allegedly kidnapping Malik Changez Khan in April, 2010.

Khan, a PML-N leader based in Jamshoro, was recovered around a month after his kidnapping from a house in Thatta's Irrigation Colony on the Sindh High Court's order.

He charged Sikandar, Sarhandi and Bashir for the crime in the FIR registered on May 11, 2010. Both the SSPs, for whom the court had issued non-bailable warrants on March 25, appeared before the judge on Saturday and submitted an apology. The court ordered the police to produce the MNA on the next hearing on May 6.
