Two alleged drug suppliers caught selling to students

A third suspect managed to flee while the court sent the two suspects to jail on 14-day judicial remand.

RAWALPINDI: Rawat police on Saturday arrested two members of a gang who were involved in supplying drugs and narcotics to students at educational institutions in the twin cities.

Police also recovered 400 Ecstasy tablets and around three kilogrammes of hashish from the suspects. However, the main suspect managed to flee.



According to available details, a police squad headed by Sub-Inspector Rana Akbar had been staking out a private housing society in Rawalpindi. During their surveillance, they swooped down on the two drug suppliers at two separate locations as they transported huge quantities of narcotics. The two men were shifted to the police station for further investigation.

Akbar said that the two suspects had links with an international racket involved in supplying drugs to students and other people in the twin cities. He added that the suppliers had obtained the drugs from a medical store in Peshawar and wanted to hand the contraband over to a man named Hafiz Jimmy in a private housing society.



Akbar added that Jimmy had been involved in supplying drugs to students of various educational institutions and was being monitored. However, the officer said that Jimmy managed to flee during the police action.

The two suspected drug suppliers, identified as Fayyaz Khan and Raja Khan, were booked under section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNSC) act.

The suspects hailed from Faqeerabad in Peshawar. They were presented before a magistrate who sent the two suspects to Adiala Jail on judicial remand for 14 days.
