PM Nawaz appreciates China's commitment for realisation of CPEC

Premier says he is looking forward to attending the 'Belt and Road' conference in China

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appreciated on Friday China's commitment for the realisation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC) project.

"Pakistan deeply appreciates China's commitment to the realisation of CPEC, which is a flagship project of China's One Belt-One Road initiative. I am looking forward to attending the forthcoming Belt and Road Conference in China," a statement from the PM's House said.

He was talking to the Director of State Council Information Office of China Jiang Jianguo and congratulated him on publishing the Urdu version of President Xi's book "The Governance of China" in Pakistan.

The publication, he added, will prove to be a milestone in learning from the Chinese experience of governance.

The premier noted that China's [economic] progress in the last three decades was a model for developing countries. "We deeply appreciate the vision of President Xi Jinping," he remarked.

Nawaz reiterated that Pakistan and China are iron brothers and the relations between the two countries were raised to an even higher level of "all-weather cooperative strategic partnership", during the visit of President Xi Jinping to Pakistan in 2015.

The premier termed cultural exchanges and people to people contacts essential for further enhancing the relations between the two countries. It is encouraging that currently, more than 18,000 Pakistani students are studying in various varsities of China.

Urdu language, he further noted, is being taught in seven Chinese varsities while the Chinese language is also being taught in major educational institutions of Pakistan.

Jiang Jianguo thanked the premier for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation during the visit.

Tariq Fatemi, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, and senior government officials were present during the meeting.
