QUETTA: A blast ripped through the airport road in Gwadar Wednesday evening, leaving at least three people injured.

“The blast occurred through a time-device which was planted in an explosive-laden motorbike parked in front of Raziq Plaza on the airport road of the port city of Gwadar,” DIG Gwadar Police Nadeem Ahmed said.

“The blast left three people injured and damaged a number of shops,” he added.

No group claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Eight shops and a vehicle were damaged while a number of houses’ window-panes were also shattered in the remote-controlled blast.

The three injured – two hailed from Lahore and Hyderabad, a local resident – were transported to the DHQ Hospital Gwadar.

A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies, officials and rescue workers rushed to the scene and the area was cordoned-off.

While condemning the blast, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri said terrorists cannot halt the province’s development. “Cause of the explosion will be investigated.”
