LAHORE: Honey Waqar has always been a proponent of progressivism and distinctiveness; of something larger than life. As a brand, it has broken through traditions and stereotypes and redefined Pakistani fashion with dramatic but timeless silhouettes and exquisite craftsmanship.

Honey’s eyes for detail and commitment to design have landed her on the speed dials of Pakistan’s who’s who. Her name has become synonymous with luxury couture but this year, Honey is trying something new: a signature lawn collection.

According to the designer herself, a woman should wear what glorifies her. That’s precisely why, Honey decided to collaborate with Z.S Textiles and develop the upcoming collection, which has been designed and produced exclusively in Italy, using the finest of Italian silks.

“I have been doing bridal couture for a long, long time now and my hardwork and determination have paid off well. But this year, I decided to enter the lawn frenzy,” Honey told The Express Tribune. “Designers all over the country have been going bananas with lawn and even getting the rewards for it as the material is loved my women year round. But I took my time and waited for the right people to work with and that were Z.S textiles. We share a great chemistry and intend to work with them for a long time henceforth.”

The cut: Unforgettable looks of the week!

As this is Honey’s first lawn collection, she wanted to do it all her way. “It’s called ‘Latervó’ which means ‘I adore you.’ It’s set against the background of the mesmerising Greek island, Santorini,” she revealed. “The aim is to take you through a fascinating journey through an enchanted forest where white lilies and carnations, gardenias and pansies await you. The fairytale is intertwined with chrysanthemums and jasmines, with a surprise at every corner. Geraniums and marigolds will take you the final destination, the ultimate Promised Land.”

According to Honey, the collection is more couture and ideal for a lunch or tea party. “We made is luxuriant but affordable. The prints are very glamorous, feminine and sensational and I want to thank everyone out there for their tremendous support. It’s because of them that I am who I am today and it’s because of them that this lawn collection has materialised,” she said.

Another feature which makes Latervó special is that actor Mira Sethi has been chosen as the face of the campaign. “For us, Mira embodies grace and confidence. She is true to herself in everything she does; always poised, witty, elegant and fresh,” said Honey, when asked about her choice. “The Honey Waqar woman embraces these feminine qualities with a fierce confidence and Mira is just that. She is the ultimate beauty with brains.”

Honey’s sentiments were echoed by Mira herself, who flew to Santorini to shoot for the collection. “I loved being there with our team! We would keep saying how it was a mini-holiday, although we were working for 15 hours every day. But the place is gorgeous, perched on tall cliffs and craggy pathways,” said the Dil Banjara star. “Not to mention, the designs are so elegant and luxurious, with salmon, flamingo and powder pinks mixed with deep blues and yellows and some black lace. Honey’s hallmark rose is also in this collection.”

According to the actor, Honey even designed one of the outfits especially for her. “She made a lemon-yellow angrakha for me and it’s one of my favourite outfits!”
