Indian spy case: ATC issues warrants against investigation officer

Orders to block salary of officer over his unexplained absence

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) issued on Tuesday warrants for the arrest of an investigation officer over his absence in a case pertaining to detention of five suspects for involvement in anti-state activities.

Issuing non-bailable warrants, the ATC-I judge ordered the Counter-Terrorism Department SSP to arrest and produce the investigation officer, Ali Hakim Khoso, in court on May 3. The court also ordered to block the salary of the officer over his unexplained absence.

Muhammad Shafiq Khan alias Pappu, an employee of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, along with Abdul Jabbar alias Zafar Tension, Mohsin Khan alias Kashif, Khalid Aman alias Dad and Adil Ansari were arrested in August 2015 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. They were taken into custody for allegedly spying for the Indian spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), getting training in India and involvement in terrorism and anti-state activities.

The main case was registered under Sections 120-B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 123-A (condemnation of the creation of state and advocacy of abolition of its sovereignty), 324 (attempted murder), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, at the CTD police station.

The detained suspects were also separately booked under the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and the Sindh Arms Act, 2013.
