In upper Sindh, he said, the eastern parts of the province will experience dry and hot weather. "Moreover, the western side of Sindh might not be engulfed in this hot and dry spell to that great an extent as the rest of the province," he added.
Preparations for expected heatwaves
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Sindh Health Director-General and Karachi Health Director Dr Muhammad Tofique said that health advisory was issued almost a week ago in all the hospitals across the province.
All the medical superintendents and heads of government hospitals have been asked to remain on standby to tackle the influx of patients in case of a heatwave.
Dr Tofique added that as a contingency plan, all the hospitals have been directed to establish a separate ward for heatwave patients. He claimed that necessary requirements, such as medicine and arrangement of air-conditioners and water coolers, have been arranged to treat dehydrated patients.
He advised the people, especially the residents of Karachi, to avoid going out in the sun unnecessarily from 11am to 4pm during the heatwave. He also suggested people keep themselves hydrated by increasing their intake of fluids, wear light clothes and cover their heads while going out in the sun.
