Two suspected terrorists were also arrested during the operation.
Rangers’ spokesperson said that the operation was conducted in the area 40 kilometres west of Fort Munro on the basis of intelligence reports against wanted terrorists and their facilitators/hardened criminals holed up in a hideout.
The soldier who died in the encounter was later identified as Kamran Afzal who was a resident of Jaranwala. He served in Rangers for the past eight years. He was part of the Special Operations Rangers Troops (SORT) and posted in DG Khan.
The Pakistan Rangers Punjab conducted an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) in Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday, killing at least five terrorists including two notorious militants wanted in a number of cases.
“Five terrorists – including two high-profile militants: Zulfiqar, alias Zulfi, wanted in seven FIRs and having close links with Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) Harybiyar Murree group; and Peer Baksh, alias Peera, having Rs2 million head-money and wanted in 15 FIRs – were killed in Chhera Thal, 40km southwest of Fort Munro,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
The injured DSR was identified as Haroon, who was later evacuated to CMH Multan.
The operation was still continuing at the time of filing this report.
At least 35 FIRs were registered against these criminals in various police stations.
Two ‘high-value terrorists’ killed in Operation Raddul Fasaad raid
Operation Radd-ul-Fassad is exclusively designed to eliminate terrorists from Punjab, especially from Southern Punjab which is considered to be a hub of militant activities.
The operation was launched after a series of terrorist attacks across Pakistan in which more than 100 people were killed in February this year.
