Pakistan Super League (PSL) chairman Najam Sethi on Friday confirmed the inclusion of a sixth team in the third edition of the cash-rich tournament.

Speculations regarding the addition of the sixth team surfaced before the second edition of the tournament but franchise owners were reluctant to add another side in the competition.

However, in reply to a tweet, Sethi confirmed that next year’s tournament will have six teams and also an increased number of matches (34).

He added that he will try to bring at least eight matches to Pakistan unlike the second edition where only the final was staged in Lahore.

The second edition of the PSL was won by Peshawar Zalmi as they lifted ‘The Spirit Trophy’ in Lahore in front of a packed Gaddafi Stadium.
