LAHORE: Justice Shahid Waheed of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Ministry of Interior on a petition seeking direction for removal of contemptuous material from the internet.
The petitioner also requested the court to order bringing back bloggers including Salman Haider, Ahmed Waqas Goraya and others for their alleged contemptuous remarks on social media.

The court issued the notice to the ministry, asking it to file a reply by April 25.
The court issued the order on a petition of Zafar Iqbal, a citizen. The petitioner submitted that the government is not taking action to remove contemptuous material from the internet which are hurting religious feelings of Muslims across the world, particularly in Pakistan.

He said the bloggers have fled the country and are operating different accounts from abroad and putting blasphemous material on the internet. He submitted that the government has failed to stop them or taking any action against them.
He prayed the court to issue orders to bring those bloggers back to the country and ensure strict action against them to stop them from insulting Islam.
