Lewis' stunning 91 leads West Indies to seven-wicket win over Pakistan

Hosts chase down target of 138 with 31 balls to spare to keep four-match series alive with one to play

Opener Evin Lewis produced a breathtaking innings as West Indies beat Pakistan by seven wickets to keep the four-match series alive at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Saturday.

Chasing 138 to win their first match against Sarfraz Ahmed’s men in six outings, the Caribbean giants lost opener Chadwick Walton in the second over.

However, his loss did not affect the run-chase as Lewis produced astonishing display of power-hitting as he scored 91 off just 51 balls to take his side home with more than five overs to spare.

The 25-year-old left-hander smashed nine sixes and five fours in his innings, as he single-handedly scored more than 65% runs of the team’s total of 138, and was deservedly nominated as the best player of the match.

For Pakistan, left-arm pacers Wahab Riaz, Sohail Tanvir and leg-spinner Shadab Khan claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Pakistan managed to post 137 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Opener Kamran Akmal finished the innings with the top score of 48 off 37 balls, whereas Babar Azam scored 43 off 38 balls.

For West Indies, leg-spinner Samuel Badree took two, whereas pacers Kesrick Williams, Carlos Brathwaite and off-spinners Sunil Narine, Marlon Samules claimed a wicket each.

Pakistan lead the four-match series 2-1, and the final match will be played on Sunday at the same venue.

israr | 7 years ago | Reply lewis is a free spirit and a positive stoke maker so there are two way to get him out make him go for his fav shot and induce an edge and place a fielder where you think the ball might go after taking edge thats taking the bull by its horn as he is an ordinary player you can get away with this trick for sure. the other way to get him out is to not bowl to his strength as its a t20 he does not have time to let go many deliveries and will sooner or later go for one ball that's not in his range and can be caught, bowled or stumped imad 2 overs hasan ali 2 overs and ruman 2 overs should make pp and if they are taken for runs so be it u cannot do anything as u need ruman and hasan for end overs and wahab is too arrogant to bowl in first 6 overs Good luck with batting and someone will need to stay right till the end to ensure 160-170 if its the same pitch if not the same then min 150 should be the target.
