Day 24: Doctors continue strike

FAISALABAD: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) continued their strike for the 24th day on Thursday.

Young doctors all over Faisalabad staged demonstrations for pay increments and regularisation of their employment.

Doctors from Allied Hospital and General Hospital completely abandoned their work duties to stage their protest.

They raised slogans against the government and demanded that Secretary Health Fawad Hasan be immediately replaced.

The Punjab government has so far been unable to placate the concerns of the protesting doctors.

Patients from far reaching areas are suffering as they are being forced to leave without any treatment.

Dr.Nasir Ali | 13 years ago | Reply Pakistani nation have unfortunately chosen their fate and unlike people here in the UK, who know their rights and demand what is legitimate, our nation is asleep. While I strongly believe that these doctors must not abandon their patients, I also believe that their patients should join in the protest to get better healthcare at the same time; this is not one man or one profession's fight, every single Pakistani citizen should know their rights and demand them from their government.
slapped | 13 years ago | Reply Yeah protest all you want and let the poor sick suffer from it. As long you get your fat bellies filled. They're worried about their pays. First look at your service, no wonder you get that amount of pay. Utter crap. The way doctors treat their patients and the nurses don't even pay attention. Also if I was rich and was in need of treatment but the doctors are too busy protesting outside. But you'd come anyway to treat me cause hey! I'm waving money right at your face and you're wagging your tail like a stupid dog that you lot are. Parents pushing their kids to be a doctor for money, money money! Leave the poor to rot by death's door.
