MULTAN: The government has initiated a project for the rehabilitation of prisoners across Punjab. As part of the project, prisoners would be given arts education as per their abilities.

This was said by Provincial Minister for Prisons Malik Amad Yar Hanjra while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Technical Training Centre in Central Prison, Dera Ghazi Khan.

He said necessary skills would be imparted to make them useful citizens for the society as many of them were behind the bars on the charges of robberies and petty crimes.

He maintained, “In the first phase, prisoners will be imparted three months training in computer, tailoring, home appliances, electrician, plumbing and others.”

He said the purpose of the project was to make male and female prisoners capable of doing work to feed their family after they get released from the prison.
