The rule of the rich

They usually find a way to excuse themselves from paying tax

RAWALPINDI: As awareness increases among people, questions about the kind of democratic rule we have are growing shriller. Do we really have democracy in the country? Surely it is better to call it plutocracy? Our leaders might at times have common tastes but their wealth certainly separates them from the general public. They have created a huge vacuum of empathy on their part falls short. With the passage of time, our economy too has faced the consequences of being ruled by plutocrats. The income distribution is certainly uneven. The adage that the “rich are getting richer” is both accurate and appropriate. According to estimates, more than 42% of the income is claimed by the top 20% of the population. A very large slice of the treasury is not exactly earned by the rich but is either inherited or received through corrupt means. They usually find a way to excuse themselves from paying tax, which is a major way for the government to generate income. In order to remove these inconsistencies, we need to create a system that makes sure there is impartiality and everyone is considered an equal citizen of the country.
