Three arrested over suspected terror plot in Venice

Searches were conducted at 12 locations in the historic centre of the city

ROME: Three men from Kosovo have been arrested on suspicion of plotting a militant attack in Venice, Italian police said on Thursday.

A fourth person, a minor, was also detained in overnight raids carried out after it was established that the suspects had undergone "religious radicalisation", a police statement said.

Searches were conducted at 12 locations in the historic centre of the city, which is a magnet for millions of visitors from around the world.

La Repubblica newspaper reported that the suspects were heard on wiretaps celebrating the attack outside Parliament in London last week, and had downloaded manuals on hand-to-hand fighting and the use of knives.

They were also recorded discussing the possibility of carrying out a similar attack in Venice, as well as their desire to join fighters in Syria, according to La Repubblica.

Bunny Rabbit | 7 years ago | Reply Europe is learning its lesson acting as the saviour of these refugees/ immigrants. Those from the sub continent / UUSR/ Sri lanka came and fleeing to the west and have settled down to their new roles . but these from Syria / Lybia etc have not learnt to integrate with their hosts .
