The online rickshaw service namely ‘Jul soo Jee’ [Let’s have a ride, please], set up by a group of fresh graduates from a number of universities, provides a ride at the cost of Rs10 per kilometre for rickshaws and Rs8 per kilometre for motorcycles.
Similar to Careem and Uber, the customers have to order their rides through a mobile app called ‘Vheelz’. After registering with the app, the customers can select their pick and drop points.

Interestingly, the service will be connected with the customers’ mobile account and the service cost will be charged through their cell phones.
The online taxi service will be operational from next month, its marketing manager Atif Najam told The Express Tribune. The motorcycle service will be used in the city’s congested areas, according to Najam, while rickshaws will be used in less congested areas.
“The aim of launching the service is to provide a comfortable ride to Peshawarites and to get rid of the day-to-day hassle of public transport,” Najam said. Students, according to him, will find the service more reliable.
A fleet of 200 rickshaws and 500 motorcycles are initially being used by the company, he said.

“The existing rickshaws and motorcycles plying the city’s roads will be added to the service and the owners will get percentage of the profit,” Najam said. To ensure smooth operations, the company will fulfil all strictures of the transport department.
He stated that it was an innovative idea to encourage students to start their own businesses after getting professional degrees which can overcome the unemployment issue of the country.
Students currently studying can also register their motorcycles to work as a driver in the service to utilise their time and earn some money, he added.
