The mining and then processing of ore are all according to world standard and practice
SAUDI ARABIA: We were talking about the Reko Diq copper project in Balochistan many years ago and knowing that I am a mining engineer my cousin told me that Pakistan has found a huge deposit of gold and a foreign company would take out all of it. He had asked my opinion after he had heard the media hype about a find that would make Pakistan rich. I asked him to come out in the garden with me and pointed him towards a rock and asked him how he would extract a gram of gold from that boulder. He had no answer.
I told him that the prospecting company has invested huge funds in this project and then found the copper deposit in which gold and other minerals were also found. The mining and then processing of ore are all according to world standard and practice. M/S Tethyan Copper should be given the mining lease and allowed to work on it. The matter since then has been dragged in the Supreme Court of Pakistan for years and rest is the history of our ignorance.
