Traffic mess: Rickshaws face ban in Sialkot

Mayor says rickshaws were the main cause of increasing traffic mess in the city.

SIALKOT: The Sialkot Municipal Corporation has decided to ban all kinds of rickshaws plying city roads in a bid to handle traffic mess.

This was said by Mayor Chaudhry Tauheed Akhtar while speaking to journalists on Sunday.

He said rickshaws were the main cause of increasing traffic mess in the city. He said a deadline in this regard would be given shortly after which rickshaws would not be allowed to ply the city roads.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency arrested 15 human traffickers during a crackdown. FIA Deputy Director Khalid Anees said the accused were involved in the business of sending people abroad illegally.

The FIA had initiated action against the accused and shifted them to undisclosed location for interrogation.

In another incident, the police claimed to have arrested five drug pushers and recovered 1.04 kg of drugs and 14 liters of liquor from their possession. The Sabz Pir police arrested Sarwar with 1.04 kg of drugs while Ugoki police arrested Sajid, Ameer and Bilal with 14 liters of liquor.
