Top functionaries award 132 for distinguished services
President, provincial heads award noted individuals at Aiwan-e-Sadr, respective Governor Houses

President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday conferred civil awards on 109 Pakistanis to commemorate their distinguished services in different spheres of life.
The awards were approved on August 14, 2016, while an additional 23 were approved after the Independence Day, according to the Press Information Department (PID).
Prominent among those honoured were Mustansar Hussain Tarar in the field of literature, Ghazi Salahuddin for journalism, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat and Humera Channa in the field of arts, and the US-based Professor Nergis Mavalvala for services to Pakistan.

In a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, the president decorated 50 recipients, including 10 foreign nationals and Pakistanis living abroad.
Pakistan Day celebrations begin with military parade
Nearly two dozen recipients were awarded in Lahore; nine in Karachi; eight in Peshawar; five in Quetta, and two in Gilgit. The ceremonies were held in four provincial capitals at the respective Governor Houses, and the G-B capital city.
Similarly, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee decorated 33 recipients of the awards at Joint Staff Headquarters, while six foreign nationals and one Pakistani citizen were awarded by the heads of the Pakistani missions in the respective countries.
