KOHISTAN: Three officials of the forest department were critically injured when their car was caught in a heavy landslide near Chochung on the Karakoram Highway in Kohistan, police and eyewitnesses said on Wednesday.

The three officials were heading to a forest in the area. Passing through the Chochung area, a heavy mass of rock and earth fell, burying their vehicle completely.

Villagers travelling in a vehicle behind them rushed to rescue occupants of the car. They clawed out the three officials from the debris and rushed them to the District Headquarter Hospital where they were referred to the Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad.

Their car, however, was completely damaged.

The injured were later identified as Forester Abdul Ghani, Forest Guard Bilal, and a class-IV employee Munshi Khan. While they had suffered injuries all over their bodies, they were more severe on their heads.
