Honouring Maureen Lines for her work

Letter March 22, 2017
I request the honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan to posthumously recognise the services of Maureen P Lines

RAWALPINDI: In Maureen P Lines’ death, Pakistan and particularly the Kalasha community have lost an honourable and noble soul, or should I say, a caring mother for the destitute of Kalash Valley. I had the privilege and honour of knowing Maureen P Lines and also doing a coffee table book project on the Kalasha community with her, along with my colleague Major (retd) Sabihur Rehman. She was also a great family friend and loved Pakistani people in general.

She had dedicated her life to them. In doing so, she gave up her comfortable, protected and prosperous life abroad in exchange for the uncomfortable, tedious life in the remotest mountainous areas of Pakistan. She sought pleasure in her endeavours in Pakistan, ie, love and service to humanity. She is definitely my role model and the entire country should be proud of her. In Maureen P Lines’ death, Pakistan has lost a soul par excellence.

I humbly submit an appeal to the honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan to posthumously recognise the services of Maureen P Lines in the next national awards ceremony.
