Apple on Tuesday announced that it is introducing a new colour option for its iPhone 7 lineup today: red.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RED Special Edition is available in vibrant red aluminium finish, and is launching in recognition of more than 10 years of partnership between Apple and AIDS charity (RED).
Although previously Apple has offered special product red cases for the iPhone, this is the first time the actual handset is available in the colour red.
Now customers will have the option to choose the red model along with Apple’s existing choice of colours, which includes silver, gold, rose gold, black and ‘jet black’.
You’ll be able to order the red iPhone online worldwide and in stores from March 24. The phone will be available in 128GB and 256GB models.
“Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano [product] RED Special Edition all the way to today’s lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch,” said Apple’s CEO Tim Cook.
“The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest [product] RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands,” the Apple CEO added.
