‘Need to invest in shipping industry’

Available maritime resources should be fully utilised to ensure the progress and development of the country

KARACHI: Pakistan Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Arifullah Husaini said that there is a need for investment in the shipping industry and paying attention towards shipping, fishing and logistics. He was speaking at the introduction of a life boat training course at the Maritime Training Institute on Monday. He was of the view that the available maritime resources be fully utilised to ensure the progress and development of the country. Admiral Hussain said that the country has been blessed with an excellent coastal belt as well as the best manpower and these should be utilised especially in the wake of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The private sector should also play its due role as the government has provided tax incentives.

Zahid Qadeer | 7 years ago | Reply Its astonishing that Pakistan has only 1 shipyard/dockyard at its coastal line as compared to 40 in India and around 20 in Bangladesh.
