KARACHI: The Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited (PMEX) has announced an increase in trading hours and will now open at 5 am instead of 10 am.

With this change, the exchange will be operating for 21 hours a day, according to a press release issued by PMEX on Monday.

“The extension in trading hours will provide investors an opportunity to stay more connected with international markets and access real time prices continu

ously, especially during Far East morning hours. With these new hours, PMEX participants can trade international commodities with the same ability as any global investor,” said PMEX Managing Director Samir Ahmed.

“This step will ensure that participants on the exchange have access to deep and liquid markets in international commodities like gold, silver and crude oil,” he said, adding it will improve risk management as well as hedging and portfolio performance.

PMEX, which recently changed its name from National Commodity Exchange, is growing with trading in gold, silver and crude oil from 5 am to 2 am.
