The FIA, in a letter, asked the ministry to bar the players from travelling abroad till the investigation against them was complete.
Five players – Nasir Jamshed, Muhamamd Irfan, Shahzaib Hassan, Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif – are currently under investigation by the anti-corruption unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
FIA serves notices to four cricketers over spot-fixing charge
FIA had issued notices to four cricketers, Sharjeel Khan, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif and Muhammad Irfan for investigating allegations of spot fixing in the Pakistan Super League.
On March 16, these players were directed by FIA to appear before the agency on March 20 and 21 to record their statement. The investigation into spot fixing scandal is being carried out by FIA on the formal request of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Nisar directs independent probe into PSL spot-fixing scam
The interior minister in his last media talk had stated that FIA would continue with the PSL spot fixing inquiry irrespective of the fact the PCB was reluctant to probe the case through the agency. He was of the view that PCB can go ahead with its inquiry but FIA would see this case from a criminal aspect.
According to some media reports, another cricketer Irfan is also facing charges of spot fixing and according to these reports the PCB has asked Irfan to furnish his reply within 14 days. Reportedly, he has also been suspended.
