LAHORE: A joint committee has been formed to identify different sectors to promote cooperation between the Government of Punjab and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The development took place during a delegation-level meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Tatarstan President Rustam Minikhanov.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minikhanov, who arrived on a two-day visit to Lahore, was chief guest at the Punjab-Tatarstan Business Forum held at a local hotel on Saturday.  During the forum, matters of mutual interest, including promotion of bilateral relations in different sectors, came under discussion.

While talking to the chief guest, Shehbaz said the visit would promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and Tatarstan. The CM invited investors of Tatarstan to invest in the country, especially Punjab. “We will provide them every opportunity,” he assured.

He added investors of Tatarstan should sit together with their Pakistan counterparts and develop a roadmap to promote bilateral economic relations. “Punjab has vast opportunities of investment due to its strong infrastructure.”

During the meeting, it was agreed to promote bilateral relations in different sectors including skill development, petro-chemical, technology, industry, mines, agriculture, livestock, tourism, sports and other sectors.

The Tatarstan president commended the developmental visions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif. He also commended Shehbaz’s command over the Russian language.
