Providing treatment: Govt aims at eradicating tuberculosis

Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Minister distributes motorcycles among field staff of TB Control Programme.

LAHORE: Patients of tuberculosis will be provided diagnostic and treatment facilities as the government is utilising all-out resources to eradicate the disease from the province, said Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to distribute motorcycles among field staff of the Punjab TB Control Programme at the Directorate General Health Services on Tuesday.

Around 53 motorcycles were distributed among the district laboratory supervisors and treatment coordinators.

TB Control Programme Directro Dr Zarfishan Tahir said the district laboratory supervisors would inspect laboratories at district level to evaluate the performance and treatment supervisors would check the treatment centres in the teaching hospitals to ensure the provision of medicines.
