K-P apex committee pledges to expedite NAP implementation

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Apex Committee discussed on Monday progress made in the on-going Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and security situation in the province.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forum appreciated the efforts of the army, intelligence and law-enforcement agencies to maintain security in the province.

The forum pledged that concerted, joint efforts will continue to energise the National Action Plan and eradicate the root causes of terrorism and militancy.

Pakistan Army launched in February ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’ to eliminate the “residual, latent threat of terrorism”, consolidating the gains made in other military operations, and further ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders.



The forum acknowledged the efforts to rehabilitate the temporary displaced persons (TDPs), with 89% of the TDPs already returned to their homes and 93% of Fata’s area de-notified.

Issues emanating from the presence of Afghan refugees, matters related to improved border management, as well as Fata reforms were discussed in the high-level huddle.

While army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the meeting as a special participant, K-P Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, and Peshawar corps commander among other civil and military members attended the meeting.
