On Saturday, PML-Q lawmakers presented the resolution in the provincial assembly on the directions of their senior leaders.
The resolution states those insulting sacred religious personalities want riots to break out in the country and the government should take immediate action against them.
Govt vows to block all blasphemous content
The resolution reads that Section 295-C of Pakistan Penal Code was inducted for protection of these personalities and teachings of Islam. In recent days, some people have resorted to attacking the faith of the Muslims.
While the Constitution gives the right of all kinds of freedom of expression, it certainly does not allow insulting any religious personalities, the resolution reads, adding the Punjab Assembly demands the federal government stop such blasphemous acts and develop a monitoring system on information technology, including all sources of social media.
