If you're a fan of reggae music and the fashions that come with it, Adidas Originals' new Spring/Summer 2017 Spezial collection will be right up your alley.
And even if you've never been much of a reggae fan, you'll still appreciate the laid-back 1970s cool of this new lineup of tracksuits, jackets, polos and sneakers from the Three Stripes, reports Esquire.
Going back to when British punk and soccer culture inspired Jamaican reggae style — and vice versa — the Spezial collection is a perfect amalgamation of two of modern history's coolest subcultures.
To showcase the new range, Adidas has shot a five-minute video featuring Jamaican reggae artist Chronixx that takes place in both Kingston, Jamaica, and Lancashire, England. The video and the clothing show how these two seemingly separate cultures blended together through love for music, soccer, and fashion.
Whether it's the military Haslingden jacket (which calls to mind British looks worn by bands like The Clash and Oasis) or the iconic Atlanta SPZL and Jogger SPZL sneakers favored by Bob Marley, the Originals Spezial collection is a brilliant homage to an iconic—and sometimes under-appreciated—era of athletic-inspired menswear.
