According to available information, ACE had booked Inspector Saleem Butt on March 2 for forgery, cheating, and corruption.
The inspector had been working as excise and taxation officer with motor vehicle branch of the department.
The action came after Ghulam Mustafa Khan, the general secretary of the Muttahida Transport Federation of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, had filed a complaint against the inspector with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar
Ali Khan.
Despite the fact that ACE Rawalpindi had filed a case against Butt, they had yet to arrest the inspector.
According to the FIR against Butt, Khan had accused the inspector of illegally registering three NCP vehicles in 2015 in sheer violation of government rules.
He further alleged that the inspector had taken a non-custom paid vehicle (registration number RIA-15-777) as a bribe for issuing registration books for two other non-custom paid vehicles. The complainant further told investigators that the Inspector had allegedly hidden the vehicle while its registration book had been cancelled.
After conducting an inquiry into the allegations, ACE Rawalpindi Inspector Mumtaz Ahmed Mekan registered an FIR against Butt.
