KARACHI:

Sindh resisted a Balochistan fightback to win the Pentangular Cup final by four wickets on the fourth day of their five-day match. After a 214-run lead in the first-innings, Sindh saw Balochistan match their performance and post 449 to set a target of 236.

Fast-bowler Abdur Rauf then dented Sindh’s top order, reducing them to 56 for three as Balochistan sensed a sensational win. However,  Aqeel Anjum and Hasan Raza combined for a crucial 93-run partnership before spinner Zulfiqar Babar broke through.

Raza then became Rauf’s fourth wicket as the match headed for a close finish with Sindh at 180 for five. Fawad Alam’s run out made it more exciting as Anwar Ali joined wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed.

The pair added the remaining 40 for the seventh wicket as Sindh clinched the title.

Earlier, Balochistan resumed on 301 for five and their batsmen did well before the team was all out for 449. Rizwan Haider was unbeaten on 62.
