Maqsood, a resident of Boee village and the owner of a single-shed poultry farm told Garhi Habibu llah police that on Saturday afternoon he had brought a clutch of 4,000, newly-hatched chicks.
To keep them warm from the cold, he lit a fire in the fire-pit. He then left the shed to fetch some more wood for the fire. However, he added that since he had used kerosene oil to stir up the fire, the wooden ceiling of the shed caught fire from the billowing flames and all of a sudden, the entire shed was ablaze, burning his entire stock.
He lamented that despite his and the other villagers’ best efforts, they could not put out the inferno.
However, police said that they were still investigating just how did the farm catch fire.
