Sharp, sweet and sour with a tinge of bitterness, grapefruit is a cross between sweet orange and Pomelo. High in vitamin C, pectin and lycopene, it is an exceptional addition to the diet.
Most commonly consumed in juice form, grapefruit also lends itself to a variety of delicious sweet and savoury dishes. When buying grapefruit choose the ones that seem weighty for their size and have a smooth surface, recommends Martha Stewart.
Here are three delicious ways to enjoy grapefruits while they’re in season:
Mixed grapefruit with ricotta and cardamom honey
Vibrant, sweet, rich and fresh, this recipe is quite simple but packed with flavour and absolutely delightful. Cut up segments of grapefruit are served with honey-doused ricotta infused with cardamom. Top with some crumble and you have a winning dish you will savour time and again.

It not only looks appetising it tastes delicious. The light sprinkling of mint adds another dimension to the overall flavour making it simply irresistible.
