Peshawar Zalmi all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Saturday confirmed he will be unable to play the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) against Quetta Gladiators.

In a video message, the former Pakistan T20I captain said doctors have instructed him to rest for 10 days after he injured his right hand during the play-off match against Karachi Kings.

“I really wanted to play the PSL final in Lahore in front of my countrymen, but there are certain things which are not in my or anyone else’s power,” said Afridi.

The all-rounder suffered the injury on Friday while attempting to catch a drive from Kieron Pollard off Hassan Ali’s delivery. According to reports, he was immediately rushed for first aid and received 12 stitches in his right hand.

However, the 37-year-old said he was pleased with his performance in the league, especially after Pakistan’s exit from the World T20 tournament last year. “PSL was a big challenge for me after the World T20 because I had thought I would not able to give performances expected by my fans,” he said.

Quetta Gladiators’ foreign players pull out of Lahore final

Last month, Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket, ending an illustrious and sometimes controversial 21-year career. Previously, he quit Tests in 2010 and ODI cricket after the 2015 World Cup.

“I have said goodbye to international cricket,” he said Afridi after smashing a 28-ball 54 in a PSL match for Peshawar Zalmi in Sharjah.

“I am playing for my fans and will continue to play this league for another two years, but it is goodbye from international cricket.

“Now my foundation is important for me. I have played with seriousness and in a professional way for my country,” he added.

I say Quetta has v little chance to win and Peshawar might just win 'cause their team balance is intact, if Quetta wants to win their game will revolve around 5 players Sarfaraz, Anwar Ali, Nawaz, Zulfiqar Babar and lastly Hassaan Khan if they can perform with bat and ball sarfaraz might just have to put up a strategy for kami, malan , samule and hafeez thats the game i guess but its never over till the last ball and we know it as we saw it
