Pakistan defeat Jordan in Doha Sevens rugby

Tries from Wasim, Fazal and Arif get the job done

KARACHI: Pakistan began their Asian Rugby Sevens Qatar campaign with a 24-19 win against Jordan at Aspire Rugby Field in Doha on Friday.

Ahmed Wasim Akram, Muhammad Fazal and Saad Arif scored a try each to help their side open their account with a win.

Pakistan head coach Shakeel Ahmed feels that his team is well-prepared and is determined to secure their qualification for Singapore Sevens through a dominant display in the ongoing Doha Sevens.

"We've trained well and the aim is to give a good performance," Ahmed told The Express Tribune. "All the players have worked hard in training for the last two months and it is showing."

Meanwhile, team captain Kashif Khawaja believes the tournament is a huge opportunity and that the game against India will be their biggest challenge.

"The match against India will prove to be a tough contest and we will try our best to win it," said Khawaja. "Our main target is to finish in top 3 and my boys are ready to achieve this target.”
