ABBOTTABAD: A college student was gunned down in Abbottabad, police said on Thursday.

He was among three people who were killed in different incidents in the Hazara division on Thursday.

Police and eyewitnesses said that Samiullah, the son of Abdul Wakeel and a resident of Dasu in Kohistan, was studying at the Government Degree College for Boys Abbottabad. He was sitting at a hotel on Link Road on Wednesday evening when around 9:20 pm, two unidentified assailants riding on a motorbike approached him.

One of the riders first attacked him with an axe before shooting him with a gun. Samiullah died on the spot. The assailants managed to flee.

While the motives behind murder were not immediately known, police believed it could be linked to some past enmity.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two motorbike riders were killed when they crashed into a dump truck.

According to Kotnajibullah police, the two men were heading to Haripur city from Model Town in Kangra on their motorbike (RIV-3995), on Wednesday evening.

Owing to reckless driving, rider lost control of his bike near the Pak-China Housing Colony and collided head-on with a dump truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Police and eyewitnesses told that the accident was so severe that both riders were killed on the spot. They were later identified as Ehtisham Abdul Khitab and Aqib of Muhammad Ilyas. Both were residents of Model Town.
